Alongside looking at American abstract expressionism artist I have been looking at a few more current artists and designers that have inspired me for their designs.
Lucy Simpson
Lucy simpson is a print and materials-led textiles designer. The omnipresence of technology, and resulting lack of tactility through digital printing, has pushed her to experiment with unconventional hand-printing techniques and mediums, creating relief-like structures that need to be experienced. She has an experimental approach to design, always looking to work with unexpected materials to create an explosion of tactility and colour. Her textural work is what has inspired me most within this unit. I love her use of unusual textures and the outcomes they produce.

Emily Rickard
Emily Rickard is a fine artist and designer. I was really drawn to her designs for their colour and uniqueness. Her style of mark making and messy strokes is really effective and creates individual designs.

Charlotte Beevor
Charlotte is a surface pattern designer who is fascinated in the harmonies and relationships between colour in various different themes. She creates unique pallets and compositions with her pantry style, mark making and illustrations. again really drawn to her use of colour and mark making techniques.

Cassie Brynes
Cassie is another surface pattern designer. Her patterns have been used across fashion, home, stationery, packaging, installations, murals, apps and many other things.
